    UNESCO World Heritage in Ukraine

Special exhibition at the World Heritage Visitor Centre Bamberg

    UNESCO World Heritage in Ukraine

Putin's war of aggression against Ukraine threatens not only human lives, but also the country's cultural identity. Ukraine has over 400 museums and 3,000 cultural sites - seven of which, like the Old Town of Bamberg, are part of the World Heritage. Part of the cultural heritage is already under evacuation. This is not possible with St. Sophia's Cathedral in Kiev, the historic city center of Lviv or the wooden churches of the Carpathians. By signing the Hague Convention in 1957, Russia committed itself to protecting cultural treasures - even during war. Putin's war of aggression violates international law.

As a sign of solidarity with Ukraine, the Bamberg World Heritage Centre is presenting the special exhibition "World Heritage in Ukraine" in the foyer of the Visitor Centre. The temporary exhibition is made possible by h neun Berlin – Büro für Wissenschaftsarchitekturen, Denk-Mal-Stiftung Bischberg/Bamberg and _srgmedia, Bamberg.  Admission is free of charge.
