Young people between the ages of 15 and 26 who are interested have until March 15, 2023, to apply for a FSJ Kultur at the Bamberg World Heritage Center. Applications are accepted through the national portal www.freiwilligendienste-kultur-bildung-bayern.de.

After finishing school, many teenagers and young adults want to take some time to explore their options before deciding on a career path. A volunteer service offers the perfect opportunity to try out new tasks and activities. During the one-year FSJ Kultur program, volunteers have the opportunity to get to know all areas of a cultural institution. In the process, they not only learn a great deal about the various job profiles at their placement site but also gain valuable experience that benefits both their professional and personal development. Fun and interaction with other volunteers are definitely not neglected: Several times a year, all Bavarian volunteers meet for four one-week seminars throughout Bavaria.

In addition to the music school, the E.T.A. Hoffmann Theater, and the city library, the Bamberg World Heritage Center will also be offering a Cultural Voluntary Social Year (FSJ Kultur) starting September 1, 2023. Those interested can expect a varied work environment with a wide range of responsibilities—from preparing and providing media coverage for events to participating in programs that promote the World Heritage Site, as well as assisting with the team’s organizational and administrative tasks. Volunteers who bring special interests or skills—such as strong writing skills, proficiency with photo or video cameras, or a passion for organizing—can contribute more deeply in the relevant area.
