FSJ Culture at the Bamberg World Heritage Center

Young people between the ages of 15 and 26 who are interested have until March 15, 2024, to apply for a FSJ Kultur at the Bamberg World Heritage Center.

The Cultural and Educational Volunteer Service is an educational and orientation year for young people up to age 26. Volunteers work full-time for 12 months at a cultural institution. This gives them the chance to gain insight into the cultural sector, gain pre-professional experience, and strengthen their personal development. In addition to practical work, 25 training days offer the opportunity to broaden their horizons. During the four seminars held throughout the year, which include artistic workshops, as well as additional optional training days, volunteers learn more about cultural work, can explore career options, and further their personal development.

In addition to the music school, the BasKIDhall youth development center, the ja:ba youth center, and the city library, the Bamberg World Heritage Center will also offer a Cultural Voluntary Social Year (FSJ Kultur) starting September 1, 2024. As the central coordinating office for the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Bamberg, volunteers at the World Heritage Center have the opportunity to gain insights into the diverse, international fields of work involved in World Heritage management and to actively help shape them. The World Heritage Center is particularly looking for volunteers who can help make the World Heritage Site more interesting for young people—for example, as part of the annual World Heritage Day celebrated each summer. Those interested can expect a varied work environment with exciting responsibilities—ranging from event management to participating in educational programs to promote the World Heritage Site, as well as assisting with the organization and administrative support of a dynamic team. In addition to gaining insights into the structure and organization of local government, participants will receive in-depth insights into the implementation of the UNESCO World Heritage Convention on the ground—international exchange and new perspectives guaranteed!

Interested candidates can apply at www.freiwilligendienste-kultur-bildung-bayern.de. There you will also find further details regarding the terms and conditions of the voluntary social year in culture. The application deadline is March 15, 2024.
