Greater visibility for the World Heritage Visitor Center

Since 2019, the World Heritage Visitor Center has been located in the heart of Bamberg’s Old Town. Despite its central location near the Old Town Hall in Bamberg’s Lower Mill District, many visitors from near and far do not find it right away. Now, however, it is no longer so easy to miss the World Heritage Visitor Center. As the final construction measure since work began in 2018, a bilingual signpost has been erected at the entrance to the Untere Mühlbrücke, at the corner of the Bischofsmühlbrücke.

“‘Beautifully designed exhibition—but hard to find’—we have repeatedly received feedback like this, both in personal conversations and through our guestbook,” says Diana Büttner, acting director of the Bamberg World Heritage Center. Together with Ulrike Siebenhaar, the city’s culture and World Heritage liaison, she is therefore pleased with the improved visibility within Bamberg’s cityscape: “The World Heritage Visitor Center, as an inclusive, open, and free-of-charge space for everyone, offers the perfect starting point for exploring the Old Town. We’re delighted that we’re now easier to find on the streets.”

International travelers, in particular, who stroll toward Mühlbrücke after their initial visit to the Tourism and Convention Service, are likely to appreciate the sign in English. In addition, a QR code links directly to the Bamberg World Heritage Center’s website, which, incidentally, is also bilingual for international visitors.
