International Workshop in collaboration with ICCROM

In collaboration with ICCROM (International Centre for the Study of the Preservation and Restoration of Cultural Property), one of the advisory bodies to the UNESCO World Heritage Committee, the Bamberg World Heritage Centre hosted the international workshop “Managing Urban Heritage for Sustainable Development in a World Heritage Context” on July 9 and 10. The goal was to identify the specific needs of management in an urban context and to develop a framework for the main areas of work in integrative management.

The workshop brought together experts from World Heritage sites such as Urbino (Italy), Bruges (Belgium), Rjukan (Norway), Bath (United Kingdom), and Regensburg (Germany), as well as researchers and representatives from the Federal Foreign Office and local planning authorities. The results of the workshop will be directly incorporated into the revision of the management plan for the UNESCO World Heritage Site in Bamberg.
