International encounters and new perspectives are an important part of the work at the Bamberg World Heritage Center. This year, we are pleased to welcome Oula Chokri from Tunisia as a kulturweit intern.

Through the kulturweit volunteer program of the German UNESCO Commission, young people can spend several months gaining experience at cultural and educational institutions abroad. In the process, they learn new ways of working, gain insights into other cultural contexts, and experience international cooperation.

Oula will be part of our team for eleven weeks. She studied German with a focus on economics and international trade and already learned a great deal about the German language and culture during her studies. Through her stay in Bamberg, she now hopes to experience Germany firsthand and learn more about how cultural heritage can be preserved while also being developed for the future.

“I chose kulturweit because I wanted to live in an international environment and gain new experiences—especially in Germany, whose language I learned during my studies,” Oula explains.
