2025 Open Market Gardens Day – “Bamberg Blooms!”

Under bright sunshine and with the theme “Bamberg in Bloom!”, twelve Bamberg market gardens opened their doors to interested visitors on April 27. The Open Market Gardens Day once again offered the opportunity to take a look behind the scenes at these traditional horticultural businesses—from vegetable, fruit, and herb market gardens to ornamental plant market gardens and lovingly tended perennial gardens.

From 10 a.m. to 5 p.m., guests could enjoy a colorful program: Guided tours, hands-on activities for children such as planting lettuce pots or an exciting beetle hunt, as well as regional delicacies like “Blaue Zipfel nach Gärtnerinnen Art,” grilled char, and the popular “Bambercher Gemüs.” A free electric shuttle service ensured that guests with limited mobility could also participate comfortably.

The event was a resounding success—marked by a passion for gardening, a cheerful atmosphere, and a warm sense of community. A big thank you to all the participating gardeners who shared their gardens and knowledge with the public with such dedication and openness!
