As part of a study tour to the Bavarian World Heritage sites in Regensburg, Bamberg, and Bayreuth, the Salzburg City Association was a guest at the Bamberg World Heritage Center. The association is committed to the UNESCO World Heritage site “Historic Center of the City of Salzburg.”

The visit focused on issues related to the preservation and further development of historic city centers, as well as the challenges facing World Heritage cities today. Rabea Hoffmann provided insights into current developments and approaches to World Heritage management in Bamberg.

Particular interest was shown in the visitor center of the Bamberg World Heritage Center as well as in the collaboration with Bamberg’s civic associations. The exchange offered an opportunity to share different experiences and perspectives from Salzburg and Bamberg.

The visit highlighted just how valuable the exchange between historic cities and their various stakeholders is. Sharing experiences and incorporating different perspectives provides important impetus for the preservation and sustainable development of World Heritage sites.
