World Heritage Cities of the German Association of Cities

It was a great pleasure for us to organize the 32nd meeting of the German Association of Cities’ Working Group on UNESCO World Heritage Cities in Bamberg!

The management of World Heritage sites is becoming increasingly complex and is intertwined with numerous issues in urban development: disaster risk reduction, World Heritage impact assessments, social cohesion and citizen participation in urban design, renewable energy in the context of World Heritage, and World Heritage outreach—all of these were central topics of our discussions. Such exchange formats are of great importance. They help us continuously improve our work—for the benefit of World Heritage and the people whose lives are connected to it.

A big thank you to all colleagues who made this meeting possible! It was wonderful to see you all again!

By the way: This session had the highest attendance in the history of the working group—and it took place in one of the most beautiful cities in the world!
