Visit from the Wachau World Heritage communities

On 7 May 2026, the Bamberg World Heritage Centre welcomed a delegation from the Wachau World Heritage municipalities in Austria as part of their study tour. As part of their exchange with the UNESCO World Heritage cities of Regensburg and Bamberg, the delegation stopped off at the visitor centre of the Bamberg World Heritage Centre.

The visit focused on a professional exchange regarding World Heritage management, as well as current challenges and opportunities in managing the UNESCO World Heritage site. Dr Simona von Eyb, Director of the Bamberg World Heritage Centre, presented the Centre’s work, as well as current projects and priorities for 2026. Among other things, she provided insights into the planned revision of the management plan and Bamberg’s sustainable development within the framework of UNESCO’s Regional Action Plan for Europe and North America.

Michael Heger, Director of Bamberg Tourism & Congress Service, also enriched the joint dialogue with his perspective. The visit offered a valuable opportunity for mutual exchange and networking with another European World Heritage region.
